It's 2015. And it's time to grow.

After tending to wounds caused by the Great Recession, NACM is making a serious effort to grow again. Just like almost every kind of membership organization in the world, the downturn caused a lot of people to quit joining groups of any kind. Churches, golf clubs, service clubs and professional associations. Each has experienced significant member losses in recent years including us

Add to this the demographic shift happening in our country – baby boomers retiring and Millennials coming into the work force – and everything is changing. Quickly! There is no clear path on how to deal with all of this change, but we also can’t just sit back and hope things will go back to being the way they were. So, we’re getting busy and trying some things:

  • A new Membership Drive has been launched. And we already have two new members in the first two weeks.
  • We’ve just added a new staff member focused on new members and customers. This is the first new sales person we’ve added in quite a while and we’re quite excited about what he brings to the party.
  • New educational programs are being unveiled and a re-designed Western Region Credit Conference is coming this fall.

All of this is intended to enhance the value of membership in NACM. With more members and customers, we’re able to do more for you. If we all get invested in the growth of our association, the health of the credit profession benefits. And, that’s great for everyone.

Thanks for your time and support. Now, let’s GROW!

Best regards,

Lunch & Learns. Enhance your skills and eat, too!

A lot of you have asked for educational programs about a variety of subjects specific to your needs. We’ve heard you and are introducing our almost monthly Lunch & Learn Series.

Each discussion will be held at our office in Seattle, have a speaker addressing a topic many of you have asked for, and include a box lunch. Each program will be limited to the first 20 participants, run about 90 minutes and cost $30.

If you want to bring a non-member to introduce them to NACM, they’re welcome, too! The first quarter schedule is included in the calendar at right. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Welcome Ben Cox. New Account Executive joins NACM

NACM is pleased to introduce and welcome a new Account Executive to our sales team.   Ben Cox has joined us to help grow our member and customer base.  He comes to us with sales experience with Dun & Bradstreet, Caskadian & SureData Medical Systems.

A graduate of Washington State University, he is married to a veterinarian with whom he shares four rescue dogs.

Please welcome Ben when you get a chance to meet him.

Emerging Leaders Group. Networking for Millennials

On January 8, we launched our new Emerging Leaders Group and a good time was had by all.

Emerging Leaders are loosely defined as under 35 and new to or early in their credit careers. The purpose of the group is to help our younger members develop a network of relationships within their age group and career position. As many of long time members prepare for retirement, filling the pipeline for the future of our profession is critically important.

The group will meet quarterly for a mostly social gathering of the members’ design. If you are an emerging leader or have one working for you, this is a great opportunity to become included in the credit profession. For more information, contact Anna Fitzpatrick.

119th National Credit Congress. We're heading for St. Louis!

The 119th Credit Congress is set for May 17-29 in St. Louis. This is the biggest annual event in our profession with great speakers and special events.

We are joining with NACM Inland Northwest and NACM Oregon for an opening night kick-off party just for our members from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Sunday.  As always, it will be great start to Congress . If you’re planning to attend Congress, plan to join us on Sunday night for a fun time with friends an colleagues.

Also, if you want to attend Congress but need some financial help to do it, apply for an NACM Don Conklin Scholarship.  It’s easy to do.  Just fill out and support the application form available here.

See you under The Arch!

Western Region Credit Conference. It's coming back to the Northwest!

After many years of heading to Las Vegas for the big fall event, the NACM Western Region Executives are bringing the conference back to the Northwest!

We’ll be in Portland October 14-16 for what is shaping up to be an excellent educational opportunity. It will be sharp, concise and fun.

If you can’t make it to Congress this year or want some new educational opportunities, this is your event.

The WRCC will also dovetail with the CFDD National Conference also being held in Portland this year. Aligning the two programs enables you to do both for an affordable price.

Complete details will be coming soon so mark the dates in your calendar. You won’t want to miss this year’s regional conference.

NACM Board Elections. March 9-20

Every Spring, we ask you to take a few minutes to vote for candidates to represent your interests on the NACM Board of Directors. This year, elections will take place electronically from March 9-20.

Ballots will be sent to the primary contact for each member company who will then be asked to cast votes for their choice to serve. Background information will be sent out a week prior to the election. We have some very good candidates this year and, as always, this will be a tough choice. So get ready to cast your votes!
